Let's see how to create Extensions and manage their administration in VoiceStack.

Creating an Extension
1. Navigate to Configuration > Calls > Extensions.
2. Click Create Extension to open a dialog box, then complete the fields as described in the table below.
| Field | Description |
| Extension Type (Mandatory) | Select the type of extension: Agent, Device, External Number, Call Queue, or Phone Tree. |
| Extension Number | A unique internal number for the extension. You can enter up to 5 digits. The system validates the number to prevent duplicates. |
| Extension Name (Mandatory) | Descriptive name for identification; follow naming conventions. |
| Location (Mandatory) | Select the office or site from the dropdown list. |
| Ring Groups | Add one or more Ring Groups for shared call handling. |
| SVM | Assign shared voicemail groups, if needed. |

3. Allow Extension Takeover: Lets agents temporarily log into an existing extension from another authorized device. When enabled, agents can retain their phone number, call settings, and voicemail access while switching workstations.

4. Click Create.
Updating an Extension
1. Locate the extension and click Configure to update it.
2. Modify fields such as Extension Name, Location, Ring Group, and SVM.
3. Click Update.
Deleting an Extension
1. Find the extension in the list and click Deactivate.
2. Click Deactivate in the confirmation dialog box.
